Meet The Therapist
Shawnta Clarke Ed.S., LPC, NCC
The journey to starting Here to Heal Counseling Services was a culmination of a lifelong passion and dedication to helping others navigate life’s challenges. It all began when I was just 16 years old, fueled by a deep desire to become a counselor and make a positive impact on the lives of those around me.
Even at such a young age, I was already actively involved in promoting abstinence and healthy well-being among my peers. Speaking at various youth summits became a platform for me to advocate for positive choices and provide support to my fellow teenagers. Additionally, I took the initiative to organize monthly teen summits where open discussions were encouraged, allowing us to tackle the everyday struggles we faced.
This early passion and commitment led me to pursue higher education in psychology, culminating in a bachelor’s degree from Albany State University. Eager to deepen my understanding and skill set in counseling, I furthered my studies, obtaining both a master’s degree and Educational Specialist certification in counseling. Subsequently, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor.
Over the span of two decades, I immersed myself in various roles within the community and educational systems, serving as a Truancy Officer, Case Manager, MTSS/504 Coordinator, Special Education Teacher, and School Counselor. These diverse experiences provided me with invaluable insights into the complexities of human behavior and the intricate dynamics within families, adolescents, and adults.
Through every role and interaction, a clear vision emerged – the need for a dedicated space where individuals, couples, and families could embark on a journey of healing and growth. It was this realization that spurred the creation of Here to Heal Counseling Services.
Here to Heal is more than just a private practice; it’s a sanctuary for emotional and spiritual transformation.
